  • Lesson Planning with Morgan

April 11th:

  • Teach Flower and Pollination Lesson

Elaboration:
My second lesson for practicum I taught was with Morgan in the Cody Middle school about flowers and pollination. This lesson included the anatomy of a flower and how most fruits are produced from the ovary of a flower. We had the students build their own flower with all the correct anatomy parts out of different materials. As an assessment we made sure they had all the correct parts and be able to describe their function. After that we taught them about how pollination works and the different parts. Our last activity was for them to demonstrate how pollination works with their flower and glitter as pollen. All the students stayed engaged and loved every part of the lesson we taught.

Reflection:
In reflection, this lesson we taught was very hand-on and beneficial to this age of students. They were engaged and wanted to keep learning/growing about the topic given to them. Each one of them were unique and creative about making the flowers, none of them look exactly the same. When we went outside to demonstrate pollen, all students were joyful and interactive. This lesson made me very excited about the future of my teaching experiences and all the different topics that can be hands-on!
