  • Teach Dairy Lesson

Elaboration:
The first lesson I taught for my practicum in the Cody middle school was a dairy lesson by myself. The content included the three most popular dairy breeds, different milking parlors, how milking works, dairy products, and how to make butter. The lesson was great for the students since most of them don't have much experience with dairy cattle. In the future we get the opportunity to go on a tour of a dairy as well.

Reflection:
In reflection, I had to maintain a good classroom management while teaching a lesson that I was not as familiar with as some by myself. Throughout the lesson I had some technology issues that kept me on my toes, but one student was very helpful. All the students were very engaged and wanted to learn more, which kept me encouraged. I unfortunately did not have good time management, so I had to make up some more inquiry and assessment for the students. It was pretty easy with the help from my mentor teacher to come up with an activity while they were making their butter. Over it was a good learning experience that showed me how to adapt and grow while teaching!
